A wallaby was spotted wandering the roads of Lisburn, Co Down, in Northern Ireland. Video footage circulated online of the wallaby in the middle of a road, raised concerns about the animal’s safety.

Authorities immediately launched a major search operation to capture the lost wallaby and ensure its well-being.

Thankfully, an update on Sunday brought relief as it was announced that the wallaby is now safe and under the care of dedicated professionals. The Lost and Found Pets North Down/Ards & Surrounding Areas/ Rescue & Rehoming group took to Facebook to share the positive news.

“After days of tracking a stray wallaby in the Ballynahinch/Lisburn area, we are pleased to inform everyone that the animal is now in experienced hands,” the group wrote.

The rescue efforts involved collaboration between Skywatch NI, a professional rescue team, and a veterinarian. Plans were put in place to capture the wallaby safely, but before they could execute their plan, a farm in the vicinity managed to detain the animal without incident.

The post continued, expressing concerns about the Wallaby’s potential captivity, stating, “If this wallaby has been kept in captivity, he will have been starving and likely frightened.” However, it was reassuring to learn that the wallaby is now in the company of other wallabies and will be allowed to stay in their care if no owner comes forward.

This unusual encounter of an Australian wallaby in Ireland has captured the hearts of many, and the efforts of the rescue teams have ensured a happy outcome for this adventurous marsupial. As the story unfolds, authorities will continue to monitor the situation and search for any potential owner who may be missing their furry friend from Down Under.
